Yoga is the beating heart of Suryalila. For us, yoga is much more than the physical practice. It is an entire life philosophy. Yoga is a mind, body and spirit connection which creates positive ripple effects in all aspects of life long after stepping off the mat.
We believe that our natural state is one of happiness, and when we nurture a holistic yogic lifestyle, it can help us to embody our true joyful essence.
Yoga gently encourages us to live life from an open heart space filled with compassion, kindness, gratitude and love. Yoga helps us to understand that we are whole, complete and limitless exactly as we are. During our artfully curated 90 minute yoga classes, our teachers embody this nurturing spirit of yoga, and create a safe nurturing space to help you to relax, replenish and reconnect with yourself.
Suryalila Morning Classes
Vinyasa Flow, 8am - 9.30am, every day
Suryalila founder and master yoga teacher Vidya Heisel has created her own dynamic style of Vinyasa Flow rooted in Eastern Yoga Philosophy, which she teaches on residential trainings at Suryalila via her well-established yoga school Frog Lotus Yoga International (FLY). The majority of the teachers at Suryalila have been trained in this FLY style which creates the foundations for our morning classes.
The class typically opens with a nourishing seated pranayama followed by a long juicy body warm up. The energy builds as the teacher guides you through a creative standing sequence, then inversions, a cool down and lastly a relaxing shavasana. The classes are sprinkled with poetry, music and inspiring quotes and suitable for all levels, ages and abilities. There is a strong emphasis on doing what feels right for your body, and you’re encouraged to use modifications, and props to help enhance your practice. The atmosphere created in the classes is focussed, meditative and joyful - the perfect start to the day.
Suryalila Evening Classes
Restorative or Yin, 5.30pm - 7.00pm, Mon, Weds, Fri
Melt into the mat with our relaxing afternoon classes. Lovingly curated to help you to rest and restore, these 90 minutes of bliss draw on Yin yoga or Restorative Yoga postures held for longer period of times from 3-10 minutes to help activate the parasympathetic nervous system lulling the body into ‘rest and digest’ mode. Being in this deeply relaxed state helps to slow the heart and breathing rate, lower blood pressure and aid digestion. Although Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga both help to calm the mind, relieve stress and connect with your inner self, they are very different. Yin Yoga uses stretches to target the deepest connective tissues of the body - ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and the meridians - helping to release stagnant and blocked energy, improve flexibility and lubricate the joints. Restorative yoga, on the other hand, is all about fully supporting your body with props like bolsters, blankets, blocks and sandbags, enabling the release of tension in the mind and body. It is deeply healing, and helps to restore the body back to its best. Both styles help to cultivate inner awareness and provide balance to our busy lives. Our teachers often bring their own relaxing touches to these afternoon classes to create a truly nurturing atmosphere with massage, live music, chanting, singing bowls, aromatherapy, breathwork, writing and reiki.
Private Classes
Private classes are suitable for all levels and people book a private lesson for a wide range of reasons. Whether you want to gain better awareness of your posture, improve your strength and flexibility, work on specific poses and breathing techniques or releasing particular areas of tension and to establish your personal practice. Whether you’re joining as a complete beginner looking to start a strength training routine or want to discover what style of yoga suits you best, a private class can offer you the tools you can always use as you further establish your personal practice. Often private classes move at a slower pace as we focus on alignment and challenges that are specific to you. Most importantly, we will give you tools you can always use on or off the mat.
Learn how to get stronger and to build better form for everyday activities, lift your mood and energy levels, help to combat the loss of bone and muscle mass, build stronger connective tissues and tendons as well as stabilising joints. Strength training benefits every body and is an essential part of our movement practice. In this class we look at postural alignment then move through a mobility focused warm up to improve posture and strengthen the end range of motion in your joints using various techniques and simple movement then follow structured strength training exercises using weights and bands to strengthen all planes and ranges of movement. This is a low impact embodiment class personalised to suit your body.
Breathwork Classes
Breathwork can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and concentration, increase energy levels, and enhance overall health and well-being. In a breathwork class, you can expect to learn different breathing techniques and practice them in a guided setting within our yoga halls.
It´s an experience that can align your body and its energy, and create a healing experience. Our breathwork classes are suitable for all levels and the techniques are easy to learn and can be adapted to different levels of experience.
Our Classes

Suryalila Cacao Ceremony
Discover the sacred art of cacao at Suryalila.
Ceremonial Cacao is more than chocolate. It is a sacred plant medicine derived from the Theobroma tree (Theo: God; Broma: Food). It is cherished by ancient cultures for its deep cultural and spiritual significance. An authentic boost for your brain and mood, ceremonial cacao has natural components that stimulate the brain to release endorphins, dopamine and serotonin, resulting in more focus, self-awareness, clarity, positivity and happiness. Our passionate facilitator, Sara, who had the profound opportunity to learn directly from the Tzutujil, a Mayan tribe from Guatemala, offers a safe space for deep connection, self-discovery and healing. Combined with an intentional sharing circle, journaling, music medicine, movement, meditation, and more, you will be supported and guided to connect deeply with your true nature, where your essence lives. Join us! And discover the profound effects of this gentle medicinal plant of inner growth, healing and transformation through the ancient tradition of the cacao ceremony.

Somatic Ecstatic Dance with Sara
In Somatic Ecstatic Dance, the emphasis is placed on: Body Awareness: Dancers tune into their body's sensations and impulses, moving in ways that feel natural, without focusing on appearance or technique. Unlike structured dance forms, Somatic Ecstatic Dance is entirely improvised, creating an open space for individuals to explore their unique movements.
This practice can be used for personal growth, stress relief, or as a meditative, communal experience. It is a space where rhythm and silence collide, and the dancer surrenders to the pulse of the moment, allowing the body to move without thought, only feeling. No steps are wrong, no movements are judged. The dance is a poem written with the body, a celebration of the self in its truest, most unguarded form.
