Through a series of lovingly curated workshops and activities, you will explore the beauty in the world around you, and the perfect beauty that you are. You will learn powerful, yet simple, techniques to help relief stress, release tension and learn to let go so that you can joyfully flow through life feeling calmer, clearer and more connected to your authentic self.

Our bodies have five senses – touch, smell, sight, sound and taste. But why are they so important to our health and wellbeing?

The pandemic has changed our lives in ways which we could never have imagined. Many of us are feeling stressed, anxious, worried and fearful on a daily basis. 

Often when we are stressed or anxious, our worries run over in our minds on a constant loop and we get caught up in our heads. This can make us feel overwhelmed and prevent us from thinking clearly. We can become trapped in negative thought patterns that can hold us back from being our true selves.

But, the good news is that by bringing your body back to the five senses, you can calm these negative thoughts, feelings and emotions.  

Tuning into different sensations using your five senses can help you to live in the present moment

When you are in tune with your senses, it can help you to be more mindful – present in the here and now. Mindfulness is a powerful tool to help you feel more centred, grounded and connected. 

During The Five Senses Retreat, you will be taken on a soulful sensory journey inspired by nature that will help you to discover the joy and beauty in the world around you and unearth your inner light.

Sun-kissed days will be filled with playful and thoughtfully created workshops and activities from writing and forest bathing to movement meditations and lavender scented restorative yoga classes.

By the end of the retreat, you will have a toolkit of simple, yet effective, ‘self-soothing’ techniques which you can use at home to help you feel calm, centred and connected with your true self.

11.00am: Write and Release workshop: Why writing your story could be the most healing thing you’ll ever do

3.30pm: Mindful river walk and ‘reset the body’ cold water swim

6.00pm: Free time for rest and reflection

8.30pm: ‘Let it all go’ E-motion dance

Day 4: Monday 16th August

8.00am: Meditation and ‘Nature flow’ yoga class

9.30am: Breakfast 

11.00am: Celebration sharing circle and goodbyes

Meet your retreat guides

Amisha: Suryalila Happiness Creator, Storyteller, Yoga Teacher and Life Enthusiast 

Amisha discovered the healing powers of meditation, mindfulness, yoga, movement and nature eighteen months ago whilst volunteering at Suryalila. At the time she was burned-out, stressed and suffering from poor health after juggling a high pressure career as a journalist specialising in real-life story telling, with a redundancy and divorce. The crunch point came just after she’d finished ghost writing What Makes Us Stronger, the Amazon best selling memoir of Manchester Arena bomb survivor Freya Lewis. It was an incredible story of survival, with a key message at its heart – to make the most of each day. By helping Freya to share her story, Amisha realised that her own stressful, fast-paced London life was no longer serving her and she was teetering on the edge of burn out. Her mind, body and soul were telling her to slow down, and, she followed her instincts by turning down a job on a top newspaper, and volunteering at Suryalila instead. It was the best decision she ever made. Through learning self-healing practises such as yoga, meditation and mindfulness combined with the deeply restorative powers of being in nature, Amisha nurtured an inner resilience and began to heal. Her stress and anxiety melted away, her health problems disappeared and she started to feel an immense gratitude for life. Now, Amisha, a certified yoga teacher, lives and works at Suryalila helping people to see the beauty in themselves and the world around them. During The Five Senses Retreat, Amisha will bring together the valuable tools she’s learned at Suryalila during her own healing journey with her 20-years experience in cathartic real life storytelling, to create a safe space from the heart where you can express your emotions, release negative thoughts and move forward feel lighter, brighter and full of self belief.

Carolina: Suryalila Therapist, Yoga Teacher, Dancer, Energy Mover, Musician and Free Spirit

Over the past fifteen years, Carolina has embarked on a fascinating journey studying alternative therapies and cultivating her inner wisdom, sharing her knowledge and healing touch with people from all around the world. Now, she is combining everything that she has learned, with her love for music and dance, to create unique workshops and experiences for The Five Senses Retreat. Carolina first delved into the world of alternative therapies in 2007 when she studied Chiro-massage and Reiki. She became fascinated by the connection between body, mind, emotion and energy, and started to wonder how could she help herself, and others, resolve emotional conflict with therapeutic methods. Whilst studying a degree in social work and humanities, her interest in the human condition deepened, and she went on to study and practise Transpersonal Therapy at one of the most prestigious schools in Spain. This set her on her path as a therapist and over the years, she has explored a variety of wellness methods – Ayurveda, Pilates, Biodanza, Meditation, Mindfulness, Taichí, Qi Gong, Bioenergetics and Yoga – to create a truly holistic approach. During her career, she has worked in therapy centres throughout Europe, giving individual and group sessions, and for the past three years, she has been based at Suryalila, working as their in house massage therapist. She specialises in combining Swedish, Deep Tissue or Aromatherapy Massage with intuitive touch and energy work, helping to shift negative blockages in the body. She also brings this nurturing attitude to her yoga classes, weaving her love of music and aromatherapy, with yoga philosophy, to create experiential classes focussed on releasing tension and encouraging a positive mindset. During The Five Senses Retreat, Carolina will share her precious bag of knowledge with love, kindness and compassion. She will support you in awakening your five senses and opening the door to feeling more alive, in touch with your inner self, realising your potential and enjoying the beauty of life.
